Review Surprise gig at Tagrijn, Hilversum, September 17 2004

While visiting the Nedersymfo Nite at the Tagrijn, Hilversum, I was impressed by "Wave World", an electronic act playing in the "lounge" of this venue.
Since this festival was specifically for prog-rock lovers, I was surprised to see a rather larger group of people gathered together around a small stage in the bar, downstairs, when I wanted to get some fresh air. I decided to check it out.
Strange, spacey sounds flooded through the room, made by two people on a little stage; one guy on a laptop, and the other one behind an impressive array of electronic gear - plus a theremin! Great - I love theremins! The third guy, sitting somewhere to the right, was obviously working on the 3D-computer graphics that were shown on a huge screen above their heads (which were stunning, by the way!).
I ordered a beer, sat down - and completely forgot about the fresh air. These guys are awesome! If you ever get the opportunity to go see them - do it! It appeared to be their second set, a futuristc, abstract, science fiction spectacle of sound and image, impossible to walk away from. Later I spoke with one of them - the big guy with the shaved head. He told me it was an excerpt from their album "Cloud Seeder".
I bought it at the little stall they had in the room - excellent stuff! Later I came down to see the third set, some rather modern material that wouldn't look wrong in a club. My girl-friend thought it was cool. Go see these guys!
