Preliminary impressions of the new album "Dimensions"
On saturday, April 28, the new Wave World CD "Dimensions" will be released at the Alfa Centauri Festival in Bussum, Theatre 't Spant! (Check the Alfa Centauri website for more info on the festival). Dimensions will be the third and last album of the first Wave World trilogy, which we have decided to name: "The Continuum, Part I". Dimensions is an album we have been working on for almost 4 years, and the first parts have already been recorded in 1997. But beware: although the style is typically Wave World, it is certainly no easy material! The best advise for listening is to retreat to a quiet room, put on your headphones and let yourself be taken away on a trip so strange and beautiful, you will not be able to describe it. The superficially simple music and soundscapes are crammed with subtle sounds, breathtaking effects an carefully hidden melodies that will reveal themselves only after several intense listening sessions. You might say that Dimensions is an album that truely develops over time. Imagine this: even WE heard new stuff in the mastering suite of Peter Brussee of Q-Point in Hilversum!

To show you we are not joking, here are some reactions from people that had a chance to hear some preliminary material:

* It's pure genius! This is definitely the most intriguing and innovative electronic album since Schulze's Timewind!
* I just don't have any words to describe this stuff!
* It sounds so extremely... well, extreme! How are you guys able to produce something so huge and wonderful and monumental?
* The most bizarre... err... sounds I've ever heard in my entire life!
* Hmm, funny stuff... There's nothing to sing along to...
* It's a great, epic novel - an AURAL epic novel; it reaches the brain through the ears instead of the eyes.
* The production is incredible! I was really INSIDE the music!
* You've surpassed yourself, guys. This is going to be the best electronic album of 2001!

Well, that says it all, doesn't it? It's final: Dimensions is not for the weak of heart! Go find it out for yourself at Alfa Centauri, or - if you have the courage - pre-order the album already now at the Alfa Centauri / Quantum website! And don't tell us we didn't warn you...

Final stages of mastering and artwork.
For anybody who's interested in getting a glimpse of the final stages in the production process of Dimensions, here's some pictures of the mastering session at Peter Brussee's Q-Point mastering suite in Hilversum (picture 1 and 2), and Rolf's Virtual Factory (3). All pictures were taken the same evening. The pics at Peter's around 23:00 and the photograph of Rolf doing the artwork (the back of the CD) around 3:00 in the night...

1. Peter Brussee and his powerful mastering software (on Macintosh computers, of course).

2. Removing a "click" (Harry has spotted them all!). This is how our music looks on a computer screen.

3. Rolf doing the artwork of the new CD (insiders will be able spot one of our live pictures, that is finding it's way to the back of the CD).
